CALENDAR DATES:  

July 9, 10, 11: Senior Pictures for next year’s graduating class. (October 18 & 19:  Senior retakes.)

August 17:  Incoming Freshmen Computer Skills       Test (optional).

August 20:  Ribbon - cutting.  8 a.m.

August 21:  Freshmen first day of school.

August 22:  First day of school for all students.  

September 3:  Labor Day/No School

SUMMER OFFICE HOURS:  The office will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and closed on Friday.  Please call before you come as there may be other days the office will be closed.  The move to the new campus will hopefully occur in mid-summer.  An update will be sent at that time, as the office will be closed for about a week.

2018-2019 SCHEDULES:   Schedules were recently distributed in homerooms. First semester schedules can now be viewed on ParentsWeb. Please contact your student’s counselor if you need to make changes. Students with last names beginning with A-K should contact Helen Bussema at helen.bussema@illianachristian.org; last names beginning with L-Z should contact Neil Zandstra at neil.zandstra@illianachristian.org.) Please note that the counselors work limited hours during the summer so they may not respond immediately. Over the summer the arrangement of classes and teachers is subject to change, but courses in which students are enrolled will not be changed without notice.

REPORT CARDS AND DIPLOMAS:  Report cards for all students will be ready on RenWeb after June 19 (unless there is still a balance on your tuition account).  Graduates may come to the office beginning June 20 to pick up their diploma and transcript.   If these are not picked up by July 11, they will be mailed.

  • Transcripts will be mailed to the college seniors indicated on their Seniors Surveys, once the tuition balance for the senior is paid.

FROM THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE:  Illiana parents, do you have an incoming freshman? If so, then it is time to fill out Illiana’s application!  All incoming freshman are required to fill out the online application and the enrollment packet. Class schedules will be created soon so please complete the admissions process right away. Contact Admissions Counselor Marie Limback, 708-474-0515 Ext. 49, with any questions or concerns. Application Instructions: Go to www.illianachristian.org, click on the Admissions tab in the upper left hand corner, click on Application for Admissions on the right side of the screen, create an application account (or use the account you created for an older, current Illiana student), fill out and submit the application. Marie Limback will contact you via email or phone once it has been submitted.

SENIOR PICTURES:  Students in the class of 2019 should note that senior pictures will be taken here, at the Lansing campus, in the Media Center on July 9, 10, 11.   Appointment cards from HR Imaging will be mailed soon.  Check with your son or daughter so you can mark your calendar.  If there is a conflict with your pre-scheduled date or time contact HR Imaging at 800-433-1766 to reschedule.  If this is not possible, retakes will be October 18 and 19.  Please note: while the purchase of a photo package is not necessary, ALL seniors must be photographed by HR Imaging in order to appear in the 2019 Spire.

2018 – 2019 TUITION, GRANTS, and EFTThe tuition rate for 2018-2019 is $9,600.    $100 of the enrollment fee billed in March 2018 will be credited to next year’s tuition, bringing the billed tuition amount to $9,500. The first tuition payment of $865 for each student is due by August 15.  Payments for August – May will be $865 and June’s payment will be $850.  The gratitude grant of $620 for supporting church families will be applied towards your June tuition.  The Foundation Fund makes an optional discount available to all students, information will be emailed in July.  The Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) form for tuition payments will also be included with the July email. 

BUS NEWS:  Transportation is being provided from South Holland, Lansing and Highland.  Please be aware that the $100 fee applies to any portion of the year and will not be prorated.  If you intend to use the bus at all, please sign up for it so we can plan accordingly.

INDIANA VOUCHER NEWS: We have received an official school number from the State of Indiana and will soon be sending information, to all Illiana families, about how to qualify and apply for the Indiana voucher.

ILLINOIS VOUCHERS: We are putting together plans for an Illinois Voucher Program!  This is NOT a government program but a privately funded program just for Illiana students who live in Illinois.  Eligibility will be based on the same factors as the Indiana government program.  Look for an email introducing this program in the next week or so.

FALL 2018 WASHINGTON D.C. SENIOR CLASS TRIP (October 23 -27):   A tentative itinerary was handed out to the Class of 2019 on May 24.  Payment will be due September 13.  The cost of the trip is $615.  

P.I.E. NEWS

  • SCRIP is finished for the school year.  The last SCRIP order went out on May 22.  We will not order throughout the summer.  We will resume in August (date TBD).  ScripNow, Reloads, and ReloadNow cards (if you have the physical card already) are available every day if you purchase online using PrestoPay.  Starting May 22, 2018, any order placed online for ScripNow, Reload, or ReloadNow cards must be paid by PrestoPay.  If you choose the check option, the order will be deleted.
  • P.I.E. CREDITS have been posted to the accounts of those who have volunteered.   If you have any questions, please email Cathy at cathyluvs2scrap@sbcglobal.net.
  • THE P.I.E. BOARD WOULD LIKE TO THANK ALL OUR VOLUNTEERS, especially those who went above and beyond with our lunch program!   We are always looking for new fundraising ideas to increase our volunteer opportunities.  Please contact any P.I.E. Board member with your ideas.
  • SCRAPBOOKING:    Illiana Scrapbook & Graduation Supplies are available for senior albums.  There are a variety of papers and die cuts in school colors and with the ICHS and Viking names on them.  These supplies also make excellent photo boards and decorations for graduation parties.  We have reduced the price of the inventory.  For more information, please contact Cathy DeYoung at cathyluvs2scrap@sbcglobal.net or 708-474-5265.
  • P.I.E. POSITIONS AVAILABLE:
    • Kitchen Cleaning Manager:  This position manages the volunteers and assists in cleaning the kitchen two Saturday mornings per year.
    • Taco Meat Manager:  This position prepares the meat on Wednesday mornings from 7:00 a.m.-9:00 a.m. about once a month.
    • Kitchen Towel Washer:  This position takes home, washes, and returns the towels every week.

SPORTS NEWS:   

  • PHYSICALS:  ALL Students planning to participate in any sport during the 2018-2019 school year must turn in a current physical form before tryouts for that particular team begin.  Physicals are required every year.  Forms are available in the office or through the link on our website.  You may mail or turn forms in to the main office.
  • SPORTS CAMPS: Illiana is hosting summer camps for, baseball, basketball, cross country, soccer, tennis, and volleyball. If you have any questions, please email Deb Kamp at deb.kamp@illianachristian.org.   
  • BOYS AND GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY:  Summer Camp will be held at Camp Tecumseh in Brookston, IN, from Monday – Friday, August 13 – 17.
  • FALL SPORTS 2018- 2019 TRYOUTS:
  • FALL SPORT TRYOUT DATES IN INDIANA ARE THE WEEK OF JULY 30.  DAILY PRACTICES WILL FOLLOW TRYOUTS.
    • GIRLS VOLLEYBALL:  Tryouts will be held Tuesday – Thursday July 31 – August 2.   Freshmen will meet from 3:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m., and sophomores – seniors will meet from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.  
    • BOYS & GIRLS SOCCER:  Tryouts will be held Monday – Wednesday, July 30 - August 1, 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.  Tryouts will be held at the Gates of St. John fields.  
    • BOYS TENNIS: Tryouts will be held Monday – Wednesday, July 30 – August 1, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with daily practices to follow. (Site TBA)
