CALENDAR NOTES

• December 12, 7:30 p.m. – Choir & Orchestra Concert at Community United Reformed Church in Shererville IN (8405 Alexander St.).
• December 17, 7:30 p.m. – Band Concert.
• December 19, 7:30 p.m. – Chambers Concert at Illiana.
• Christmas Break – Monday, December 23 – Friday, January 3.
• Christmas Break Office Hours: December 23, 26, 30, and January 2, from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
• School resumes on Monday, January 6, 2020.

PREVIEW ILLIANA (OPEN HOUSE FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS AND THEIR PARENTS):  Discover what Illiana Christian has to offer at Preview Illiana on Thursday, December 5 at 7:00 p.m. Parents and students interested in learning more about Illiana are welcome.  Meet with faculty and administration, tour the campus, attend informative sessions, and have all of your questions answered about Illiana.  No pre-registration necessary. Call Director of Admissions, Marie Limback, at 219-558-7066 ext. 49 for more information.

PUT THE PHONE DOWN!  Our students spend a lot of time on social media.  We want to teach our students to be discerning and to remember their value is found in being a child of God.   We are inviting ICHS parents, grandparents, friends to attend a meeting on December 9.  Collin Kartchner will present at this meeting.  Collin’s ministry is called  #Savethe Kids.  He will talk about the growing challenges of social media.  The meeting will be held in the Commons at 7 p.m.

SHADOW VISITS: Middle school students, come visit Illiana! Shadow visitors get to experience a day in the life of an Illiana student. Each visiting student is paired with a high school student from 7:30 a.m. – 2:50 p.m.  A link to the online Shadow Visit Request Form can be found here and on the Admissions page on our website. You may also schedule a visit through Marie Limback in the Admissions Office at 219-558-7066 ext.49.

SPRING MUSICAL:   How can a show based on children’s books be appealing enough for all ages and be nominated for 3 Tony awards including Best Musical? Come to Iliana’s production of A Year With Frog and Toad and find out! This heartwarming and humorous story, based on Arnold Lobel’s books, travels through four seasons of friendship with fun songs and great lessons about life and true friends.  Performances will be on March 6, 7, and 8.  Tickets will go on sale at the end of February.  Fun for the whole family!

ATTENDANCE REMINDER:  Parents must call the school (219-558-7066) by 9:00 a.m. to inform the school of a student’s absence and indicate why the student is not at school that day. Parents may call beginning at 7:15 a.m.  To view the full Attendance Policy please refer to the Parent – Student Handbook found on our website.

TUITION INFORMATION:   The following items have been added to your December statement:

• Athletic Trainer Fee of $40 for winter athletes.
• Athletic Competition Fee for winter athletes.

ACT TEST PREP: 

• The ACT test will be offered at Illiana on Saturday, February 8, 2020.  Detailed information regarding the ACT test will be emailed to parents of all juniors and will be available on the Illiana website.
• To register for the ACT test go to:  act.org.  Our school code is 154444.  Be sure to enter this code so that Illiana receives a copy of the results to include on students’ transcripts.  The deadline to register for the February 8 test is January 10, 2020.
  • Illiana offers four nights of coaching from 7-9 p.m. on January 22, 27, February 3, and 4. Students may sign up for the coaching in the office, beginning January 9.  The deadline to sign up for coaching is January 15.  The cost is $50, and must be paid in advance by check or cash.  We are not able to add this charge to your tuition.
• If you have any questions regarding the ACT test or coaching for the test, contact your student’s guidance counselor. Contact Mrs. Melanie Benes for students whose last names begin with A – K (mbenes@illianaweb.org) or Mr. Neil Zandstra for students whose last names begin with L – Z (nzandsra@illianaweb.org).

P.I.E. BOARD NEWS:

• Volunteers: The $200. P.I.E. fee will be applied to the January tuition bills. Please read the attached letter from the P.I.E. Board which explains the fee and how to earn credit towards it.  Remember to go to com to pick your days.
• Fundraiser: Golden Opportunity books are for sale in the office. We offer both Northwest Indiana and Chicago South Suburbs They are $25 each and make a great Christmas gift!
• SCRIP: Remember to order your Christmas gift cards with Shop with Scrip (shopwithscrip.com). There are a limited number of small denomination gift cards available, perfect for stocking stuffers and holiday gift giving. These cards will only be available while supplies last, so don’t wait to place your orders. Remember the last order before Christmas is December 3 with pick up on December 10.

OUR CHRISTMAS WISH:  We at Illiana Christian High School want to wish all our families a very Merry Christmas!  It is a wonder and a blessing to be able to celebrate Christmas with joy, conviction, awe, delight, praise and gratitude.  The Messiah is Born!  Alleluia!
