Challenged to Ride
Join us for the 3nd Annual Challenged to Ride Bike Ride to support Illiana's Student Services Department on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at 7:00am. This year, we have something new to introduce!
So, what is new? First, we are going to have two completely separate rides. One, for the more experienced rider, will take you from Illiana to Momence where you’ll have to option to go 54 or 80 miles. Please note that this ride will be on completely open roads. On this ride there will be one SAG stop (rest stop with refreshments and snacks) that you will be able to stop at more that once if you are doing the longer ride. This ride will start at 7:00 a.m.
The second ride will start the beginning of the Erie Lackawanna bike path in Crown Point. We have received permission to park in the Walgreens west parking lot and the Lezanne Tea parking lot. From there you will have the option of riding 9 or 18 miles. This ride will be 100% on the bike path so it is great for families, kids, or anyone who wants to enjoy a little exercise on a Saturday morning. We will have one SAG stop at a park in Griffith where you can enjoy refreshments and snacks. This is the halfway point so you can either turn around and head back or continue on. It’s up to you! The nice thing about this ride is that you finish where you started and it is all on a safe bike path. This ride will start at 9:00 a.m.
And lastly, we want this event to be fun and include the whole family. So this year, we’re introducing the “ICHS Walk and Roll” which will take place in the parking lot of Illiana at 10:30am. This ride is for everyone of all ages and all abilities. If you’re unable to complete the other two rides but still want to participate in this day, this is the ride for you. This “trail” will be light and a perfect fit any and all!
Now for the best part. After the ride, all are welcome back to Illiana’s campus from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. for the same amazing BBQ lunch from Welch’s Stop & Shop we have enjoyed the last two years. It will be on Illiana’s property and you can stay for awhile, check out the new athletic facilities, spend time in fellowship, and enjoy great food. You will also get your challenged to ride performance t- shirts at lunch, so make sure you stop by.
Bike helmets are required for all participants.
Please register by August 1 to be guaranteed a shirt. After August 1, shirts cannot be guaranteed.
