Mr. Tom Gilman is excited to start his first year as a Viking. For the past 11 years, he’s taught music at Fierke Education Center, where he grew an exciting and active music program with an 80-member choir. Before working with elementary school students, he formed and directed the Flam and Cheese Percussion Ensemble, a community-based percussion program aimed at enhancing standards in the percussive arts. When he’s not teaching, Mr. Gilman loves to perform. As a seasoned percussionist, he’s been performing around the Chicagoland area for over two decades. He owes his love for percussion and band to his personal high school band experience and cannot wait to be able to be a part of the growth at Illiana.
Mr. Gilman serves as a member of the worship team at Faith Church’s Highland location, where he and his wife are members. He and his wife, Anna, are coming up on 13 years of marriage and have three children: Elliot, Clara, and Magnolia.
Aside from music, he loves spending time with his kids, road trips, coaching baseball, and fishing.
