Emily Hillegonds

Mrs. Emily E. Hillegonds has taught all grades of English at Illiana since 2012. She also serves outside of school by directing musicals, organizing props for plays and musicals, recording for volleyball games, and helping at graduation. Emily received her undergraduate degree from Calvin College and her master’s degree from the University of Illinois Chicago in English Education. She was born and raised in Grand Rapids, MI, taught middle school for a year in Pella, IA, and then found herself called to Illiana Christian. On March 25, 2017, she made her move a permanent one when she married Ty, a teacher at Highland Public Middle School and an Illiana graduate. Both Emily and Ty are members at Bethel CRC in Lansing, IL and reside in Griffith, IN.
