Doug Gorter

Mr. Doug Gorter teaches Honors Geometry, Algebra 2, and Precalculus at Illiana. He grew up in Iowa and Michigan and graduated from Dordt University. He previously taught for 11 years at Sunnyside Christian High School in Sunnyside, WA. He earned his Master’s at Central Washington University. He has been teaching at Illiana Christian since 2012.

At Illiana, Mr. Gorter helps out with chess club, Landlopers and math competitions. He also takes students to Colorado in the summer to camp, hike, climb and whitewater raft. Outside of school, Doug enjoys reading, running, traveling, camping, hiking and spending time with family. He is married to Tammy and they have four wonderful children: Heidi, Isaac, Hannah and Hilary. They are members at Redeemer URC.
