Tuition Information

Tuition for the 2023-2024 school year is $12,122.00 per student.

Tuition Vouchers for Illinois Residents (2023-24)

The Illinois Voucher amount is subject to change depending on number of families that will be receiving a voucher. What is shown below is the average projected amount per family.

It is a program completely unique to Illiana!  We provide tuition vouchers to Illinois families using the same type of criteria as the Indiana vouchers.  Here is an example:

If you have a household of four people and a total household income of less than $90,000 you qualify for a voucher of $5,000*.    The tuition at Illiana is $12,122.00, so your tuition would be only $7,122!

This is just an example, the voucher amounts vary depending on household size and household income, but this example illustrates that this program is not just for minimum wage families.  If you were the only wage earner in your household of four, you could make $70/hour and still qualify for a voucher!

The chart below shows the relationship between household size (on the left) and various limits of the total household income.  If there is a household of two (just a parent and a child) and the annual income is $50,000, that household qualifies for a Illinois Voucher.  In 2023/24 an Illinois Voucher is $5,000*. If there is a household of six (mom, dad, 3 children and a grandmother) and the combined income of grandma, both parents, and all the children is $97,000, then that family would be awarded an Illinois Voucher, which in 22-23 was $5,000*.  However, if two of those three kids were students at Illiana, then the family would receive two vouchers totaling $10,000*.

This chart comes from the Indiana voucher program.  We use this chart at Illiana to determine if you qualify for an Illinois voucher. Each year the amount of the Illinois Voucher varies, but the illustrations above shows that the voucher can be substantial.

The first step in qualifying for an Illinois voucher at Illiana is, of course, being clear that the student lives in Illinois.  This Illinois program is for Illinois residents only. Indiana residents have a completely different voucher program available to them.

The second step is to use the information here to estimate whether you qualify for an Illinois voucher.  Consider the income of your entire household and your household size. If you are not sure about some variable, please feel free to contact the school at (219) 558-7066.  Remember, this program does not exist at any other school, so the only place to get answers is from Illiana Christian High School directly.

The third step is to go ahead and apply/enroll.  You have to be enrolled in order to be considered for a voucher award.

A couple more details: This is an “entitlement” scholarship, not a “need-based” scholarship.  That means that you simply have to meet the criteria on the chart; you do not have to demonstrate that you can’t afford to pay or that you don’t have any savings.  If you meet the criteria, you are entitled to the award.

You will have to prove your household income and size with some documentation such as tax returns, W-2s, etc.  Also, the program does allow for dramatic changes in household size or income. If your latest tax return shows high income, but you have just lost your job and now have no income, that can be taken into consideration.

Finally, the column on the far right of the chart above shows what your maximum household income would be in order to continue to qualify for a voucher that you received in your first year.  This is to allow your income to increase without having to give up your voucher in the second and subsequent years.

Tuition Vouchers for Indiana Residents (2023-24)

The Indiana Choice Scholarship Program is a government-administered and government-funded program that provides tuition relief for families living in Indiana to attend accredited private schools in Indiana.  This is just an introduction to the program. For complete details, please visit https://www.in.gov/doe/students/indiana-choice-scholarship-program/.

To qualify for an Indiana voucher or scholarship (It is technically not a “scholarship” because it does not depend on a student’s academic performance or scholarship in order to qualify.) a household must fall under certain income limits that vary by household size.

For example, if you have a household of four people and a total household income of less than $222,000 you qualify for a “90% voucher”.  The actual dollar amount of a 90% voucher will vary depending on the rating of area schools. If you lived in Gary, the amount would be around $7,500. If you lived in Dyer, the amount would be around $5,750. That voucher would be applied against the annual tuition, leaving a relatively low monthly payment.

These are just examples; the voucher amounts vary depending on household size, household income, and what school district you live in. However, these examples illustrate that this program is not just for minimum wage families.  If you were the only wage earner in your household of four, you could make $70/hour and still qualify for a voucher!

The chart below shows the relationship between household size (on the left) and various limits of the total household income.  If there is a household of two (just a parent and a child) and the annual income is $90,000, that household qualifies for a “90% voucher”.  Please understand that a 90% voucher does NOT cover 90% of the tuition. The state annually sets voucher amounts for various school districts depending on their academic rating.  The vouchers, then, are 90% of that amount.

In 2022-23 a 90% Indiana voucher for Dyer is around $5,750. If there is a Dyer household of six (mom, dad, 3 children and a grandmother) and the combined income of grandma, both parents, and all the children is $205,000, then that family would be awarded a 90% voucher, which in 22-23 is around $5,750.  However, if two of those three kids were students at Illiana, then the family would receive two 90% vouchers totaling $11,500.

This chart comes from the Indiana Choice Scholarship program. The chart varies from year to year.   Each year the amount of the Indiana “full voucher” varies, but the illustrations above show that the voucher can be substantial.

The Indiana Choice Scholarship Program is complicated, but it can provide very substantial assistance to families in paying the cost of tuition at Illiana Christian High School.  If you think you might qualify for an Indiana Choice Scholarship, please feel free to contact the school with questions at (219) 558-7066. To actually apply for and receive the voucher you have to be enrolled at the school, but you can get pretty close to knowing if you qualify before you make that commitment.

Finally, the column on the far right of the chart above shows what your maximum household income would be in order to continue to qualify for a voucher that you received in your first year.  This is to allow your income to increase without having to give up your voucher in the second and subsequent years.

All the amounts here are based on the 2023-24 school year. The examples and explanations here are regarding the 2023-24 school year and are for illustration purposes only.  The program is subject to annual changes and awards may vary.
