PARENTS

Parents are very important to Illiana. I many ways our ministry is intended to serve parents more than students. Parents are the ones who have the responsibility to raise and train their children. The school is here to help the parents fulfill that responsibility. Because of this there are some significant ways in which parents can become involved at Illiana.

One way in which all Illiana parents are involved at school is in the paying of tuition! We realize that the cost of sending a child to Illiana may require extra hours at work and extra initiative just to pay the bills.

Illiana is governed by a board made up of parents. Parents also serve on the Foundation Board, in Moms in Touch, as Career Opportunity Program volunteers, as Parents in Education officers, on Band Boosters, and on the Athletic Association. Each of these has a different story and a different opportunity, but all of them are ways to get more involved.

In addition to these all parents are expected to put in some time serving a Parent In Education function. Parents who do not do so are assessed a $200 fee. Most of the opportunities are in serving at dinners which are held at the school, but there are other P.I.E. fundraising efforts that also require volunteers.

Illiana parents are also involved in their own children’s education just by staying interested in what is going on at school. Parents come to games and concerts. Parents usually don’t miss parent-teacher conferences. Parents and students keep track of grades on Edline. Occasionally, parents are also asked to be involved in homework assignments.
