Dear friends and family of Illiana Christian:
I would like to welcome you Illiana Christian High School Athletics. I would like to thank every person, business, and friend of Illiana that makes athletic competition possible. We could not hold interscholastic contests without you. It really is a blessing to have a community that is so supportive not only monetarily, but through their prayers and their overall love for Christian Education. I would also like to thank the parents who give so much to the school and their kids. Even in tough economic times, they sacrifice money and time for Christian Education. This year provides new and exciting challenges as Illiana has joined a new athletic conference. We are now part of the Metro Suburban Conference along with Timothy Christian, Fenton, Elmwood Park, Riverside Brookfield, and Ridgewood. With the exception of Timothy, all of the schools are quite a bit bigger than us, but we are excited about the challenge and the opportunity to develop and grow new relationships.
The theme for the athletics this year is found in Philippians 4: 4-9 which says, “Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you.” There is so much in these verses which give us hope in uncertain and painful times and even in good times. When you put your trust in God, your heart will be taken care of. My prayer for the heart of every athlete is that they will do whatever is true, noble, right, purely, lovely, and admirable. Yet, I pray that we all experience the peace of Christ during this year. Thanks again for all your support and love for Illiana and its mission to train young men and women in the service of our King.
