Statement of Purpose
The Constitution of Parents In Education states the purpose of the organization as being:
1. To create more interest in Illiana Christian High School and the Reformed faith for which we stand.
2. To acquaint ourselves with parents, teachers and friends of the school.
3. To aid the school financially through Market Day, the Catering Service, "An Evening For Illiana" Fundraiser, and T.R.I.P. The proceeds from these fundraisers enhance educational resources for our students.
We also serve Hot Lunch to the students on Wednesdays.
"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through Him." Colossians 3:17

Re: $200 P.I.E. Fee
Dear Parents:
Parents Involved in Education (P.I.E.), is a fund-raising organization for Illiana Christian High School. Through the efforts of many volunteers, P.I.E. makes significant financial contributions to Illiana each year.
To encourage participation in these fund raising efforts, each Illiana family is assessed a “P.I.E. fee” of $200. This fee will be eliminated from your May tuition statement after you have worked for P.I.E. throughout the year. The volunteer options are listed on our website: http://www.illianachristian.org/pievolunteers.cfm. Specific dinner volunteer instructions are on the back of this letter. Volunteers may be a responsible member of your family (grandparent, parent, Illiana student, friend or relative). The P.I.E. year runs from July to beginning of June. Credit for your help will appear on the January or May tuition statements.
The sign-up deadline for volunteer positions is November 1, 2011. There will be no exceptions. Please visit the “P.I.E. Volunteer Page” on the Illiana website. Go to www.illianachristian.org. Select “Parents” at the top of the home page. Click on “P.I.E.” on the left side of the page. Finally, click on “P.I.E. volunteers” on the left side of the page. You will find announcements, a calendar, and sign up instructions.
Volunteers must be on time. If you are not able to work your assigned time, you must find your own replacement. If you do not find a replacement, the $200 P.I.E. Fee will be added to your account.
The P.I.E. Board is changing its catering options--in addition to the traditional Illiana dinners which will continue to be served, there will be some new options using preferred caterers. We will keep you informed, and if you have any questions, please contact Vonda Wiltjer, Dinner Coordinator at 219-923-0503, or you may email the P.I.E. board at pieboard@illianachristian.org.
In Christ’s Service,
P.I.E. Board
Illiana Dinners:
You may sign up to serve at a dinner. You will be placed on a waiting list. Servers have already been assigned to the dinners scheduled as of this date. Jane Kelly will contact you with your assigned day and time.
You may also volunteer to work as an a.m. cook, or table setter.
Please note the following instructions:
AM Cooks: arrive at 8:30 a.m. the morning of the dinner to peel vegetables, make the salad, and help with additional tasks. The a.m. cooks work for about 1 ½ hours and are required to work FOUR times to receive their P.I.E. Credit.
Table Setters: come the afternoon of the assigned dinner to set tables. Table setting is done at 1:30 p.m. the day of the dinner. In the summer it is done at 9:00 a.m. Table setters are required to work FOUR times to receive their P.I.E. credit.
Servers: arrive before the dinner is served to fill water glasses and cream pitchers, put rolls on the tables, serve dinner, clear tables and clean up. Servers need to work TWO dinners to receive their P.I.E. credit. Couples working together at the same dinner would fulfill the requirement for the credit.
Kitchen Cleaning: Due to the heavy traffic and frequent use, the kitchen needs a thorough cleaning multiple times throughout the year. Helpers need to clean ONE time to receive their P.I.E. credit.
School Cleaning: Volunteers assist the custodial staff in specific cleaning projects. You need to work ONE time to earn your PIE Credit.
Miscellaneous Fundraisers: Ribfest, Dress Sale, Phone Calling for the Illiana Drive, etc. Updates will appear on the Parents web page.
